We have often tried to find new ways to celebrate Christian festivals and seasons.
In May 2008, we decided to celebrate pentecost with a bonfire on a local beach. So we packed up the barbeques, and braved the early midges on Ardentinny beach.
As with most of our events- attendees are of a wide age range. There are lots of kids, so we often try to include them in some way. This time, the kids spent the afternoon making candle lanterns, streamers and doves to hang in the trees, as well as talking about what pentecost is all about.
For the evening, we prepared some stories/meditations to read around the fire, and some sheets with songs.
Sharon also made a birthday cake for the church!
Netta (aged 28, or so she tells me) shared the churches birthday!
We finished off with sparklers and a poi light show from Emily and Cara!
